Linda van Exter is UvA´s new student assessor
The Executive Board has appointed Linda van Exter, who is studying for a Master´s degree in History and a Bachelor´s degree in Educational Sciences, as the UvA´s new student assessor. She will start in that position on 2 January, for a period of one year.
Van Exter will succeed Lianne Schmidt, who was the Executive Board´s first student assessor from September 2015 to January 2016. In her new role, Van Exter will participate in deliberations on the UvA´s central policies, focusing in particular on education and student-related issues. For example, she will attend Executive Board meetings, advise the Executive Board and enter items on the administrative agenda. She will also liaise with students within and outside the representative advisory bodies, serving as a central point of contact between the university's administrators and the student community.
The selection committee, which consists of members of the Central Student Council, the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board, believes that Van Exter is the perfect candidate for this post. Karen Maex, rector magnificus and chair of the selection committee: ‘Linda is enthusiastic, highly engaged and well informed. As a student at two faculties and a former member of the Central Student Council she knows the UvA very well, and her experience as student assessor of the Graduate School of Humanities is very valuable. We are very happy that Linda as the new student assessor and look forward to working with her.’
Linda van Exter is looking forward to her new role: The University of Amsterdam is the place for top-level research and education. At the same time, it will be facing a lot of challenges in the coming period. I think it’s important for the UvA to be a place where all students, lecturers and researchers feel at home, where people are enthusiastic about the education they follow or provide and all voices are heard. That way we can create an even better university together. As assessor I want to make sure that students’ voices are heard throughout the organisation, and I will be working closely with the boards and with students within and outside the elected representative bodies. I can’t wait to get started!'
