Meet the people

Urban and Regional Planning

Our programme involves a diverse group of international scholars. Their expertise combines the discipline of planning studies with backgrounds in geography, architecture, political science, anthropology and sociology. All our teachers are active international researchers embedded in local, national and international professional networks.

Study associations

To meet fellow students and take part in social and study-related activities, you can become a member of a study association. Amsterdam offers a thriving community of students, with several opportunities both for Dutch and Non-Dutch speaking students.

MasCot

GSSS MasCot is a student-based organisation that is actively engaged in internationalisation within the UvA. The organisation was founded in 2014 upon initiative from the BOS (Board of Studies) students of the UvA Graduate School of Social Sciences. MasCot operates independently for, and within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. Today, MasCot is more active than ever.

The GSSS aims for an international and diverse student population. Beyond offering Master students good education and future career prospects, international students at the GSSS need to feel welcome, and establish social networks to feel related here at the UvA. It is with this goal in mind, that MasCot bridges the gap between international and Dutch students, by organising social, educational and career events for all Master Students at the GSSS.

Each discipline within the Graduate School of Social Sciences has its own student association. These associations organise social and study related events and often play an important role in department and faculty committees.
